Aquaponics plans. aquaponics designs & aquaponics plans. aquaponics blends aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (the soil-less growing of plants in a water-based, nutrient-rich solution). a simple aquaponics system involves using a grow bed for plants, and aquarium for raising fish. these two components work symbiotically to create an effective aquaponics system.. Aquaponics systems grow salad, vegetable or fruit in trays and other engineered media beds (australian practical aquaponics approach), which runs in a flowing cycle of water. as part of the cycle, the water passes through a tank of fish, and it carries with it the processed nutrients (nitrogen cycle) from the fish.. The simplified system has five components, 1. fish tank, 2. dump tank, 3. grow beds, 4. drain line, 5. bilge pump. in most systems you had to have a fish tank, two pumps, grow beds, drain lines for each bed and a sump tank. ours is simpler as you will see. fish tank one of the more important components of any aquaponics system is the fish tank.
